This page provides answers to the most often asked questions regarding the use of this website.
For registering on this site, you require a valid email address. In the first step, you are asked to provide your name and your email address. Then, as the second step, we'll send you an email containing a link that, after clicking, lets you enter further data and your password. Please fill in as many fields as possible; mandatory fields are marked with an asterisk (*).
When setting your password, its security level is indicated by a colored bar ranging from red (insecure) to green (secure). After setting your password, you are logged in automatically. Feel free to edit your personal data or change your subscriptions.
Note to subscribers of printed material
The registration form lets you specify whether you have been receiving printed material from us as a subscriber. In this case, the system attempts to look up your subscriptions based on the address associated with them. Hence, the address you enter for finding your subscriptions needs to match the address stored in our database. If in doubt, please find this address on the mailing labels we used.
You can change your address after completing the registration. However, you won't be able to edit your subscriptions if the system couldn't find them based on the address you entered in the registration process.
After logging in, you can change your password at any time. To do this, click the "Edit password" button below your personal data.
If you forgot your password, first click the "Forgot password?" link on the log-in page. The page that is then displayed lets you enter your email address. We will then send you an email containing a link for resetting your password.
To change your email address, please use the contact form. Select the subject "Change the email address" and enter your new email address in the field for messages.
If there's a problem with our products or services, feel free to use the contact form at any time to send us a message.
The page on which your personal data is displayed includes a button for deleting your account. After clicking this button, you will be asked to confirm the deletion on the dialog that opens. All your personal data as well as all your subscriptions will be deleted, and you won't receive any further messages from us. This step cannot be taken back.
After registering, you can manage your subscriptions. For this, all publications that can be subscribed to are listed at the bottom of the page. Click the corresponding button associated with a publication to change the subscription setting. All subscriptions are free of charge. For MaxPlanckForschung and MaxPlanckResearch, we recommend to subscribe to the corresponding eMagazine. The product pages include links pointing to iOS and Android apps that let you download the eMagazine to your smartphone or tablet for free. To subscribe to the printed version, use the corresponding switch on the product page. If you wish to order more copies or back issues, please send us a message via the contact form.
